Joining LawWorks

Anyone wishing to participate in the Project will be required to join LawWorks as a member in order to take advantage of the following benefits:

  • Insurance cover to participate in pro bono advice
  • CPD accredited training which is free of charge to members
  • Monthly LawWorks newsletters
  • Support and assistance from LawWorks' staff
  • Opportunities to attend events and network with other lawyers, law firms    and in-house legal teams who are involved with pro bono
  • A practising certificate provided free of charge by the Law Society to those lawyers participating in the Project.  This certificate will allow legally qualified volunteers who are not part of a firm to participate in this Project only.

In addition LawWorks has a long standing relationship with LexisNexis, which makes online content available free of charge to LawWorks law clinics.

LexisNexis has set up the Legal Intelligence Network, where experienced lawyers who are out of work can stay up to date on legal developments through free of charge access to online resources and CPD points. Members of Legal Intelligence Network can also develop their skills as a writer or presenter and network with other lawyers.

Due to the clear synergies between this initiative and Choices, LawWorks encourages Choices volunteers to register to join the Legal Intelligence Network.

LexisNexis and LawWorks will continue to collaborate to make opportunities available to talented lawyers who find themselves between jobs.

Membership of LawWorks will be at a special discounted rate of £25 +VAT (ie £29.38) per annum for those lawyers who qualify for, and participate in, the Project.

Participant Rules for volunteers participating in the Choices Project can be found here

There are two ways to become a member:

  • by downloading a form and sending a cheque to us
  • by paying using PayPal

If you wish to do this in advance of completing the registration form then click here. Otherwise you will have the chance during the registration process.

For any lawyers who do not qualify for this project, membership details can be found here.
